Instrumentation Plan Development

Our experienced engineers guide clients through the early thinking process in the development of plans and specifications for field instrumentation and monitoring programs.  We work with our clients to understand the anticipated or predicted behavior of the subsurface or structure being monitored and identify potential deviations from the expected performance.  Our services include review of available project information, identification of instrumentation and monitoring goals, recommendations for the number, location and type of sensors, development of field installation procedures, recommendations for sample frequency, establishment of action plans to mitigate observed discrepancy between observed and predicted behavior, preparation of instrumentation plans and specifications, and indentificaton of a data management and information delivery system.

Field Installation

We have over 15 years of experience installing field instrumentation and data collection equipment.  Our field installation experience includes mounting sensors below ground, attaching sensors to structures, and construction of enclosures to house monitoring equipment.  We apply new technology and clever design work to overcome the many challenges associated with deploying electronic monitoring equipment in the field.  Some of these challenges include electrically noisy environments, vandalism, site topography, enclosure size restrictions based on environmental concerns, and extreme weather.  Some of our solutions include use of embedded antennas, low-profile enclosure designs, and very low power monitoring equipment.
